Congressional Report
Dear Friends,

This week, I would like to share with you several updates during my work week in Washington, D.C.

My bill, "Government Customer Service Improvement Act (H.R. 1660)," Passes the House

This Wednesday, the Government Customer Service Improvement Act of 2013, a bill I authored, passed the House.  The bill seeks to serve the taxpayers by improving customer service across federal agencies.

Just like the private sector strives to provide excellent customer service to bring in business, the federal government should embed better service to bring efficiency.  I have a strong belief that we owe our taxpayers more than delays and service breakdowns – we owe them an effective, efficient, and responsible government because, ultimately, government is in the business of customer service.

Affordable Housing Grants and Loans Videoconference

This week my office hosted an affordable housing grants and loans videoconference in Laredo, San Antonio, Floresville, and Rio Grande City.

Representatives from both the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development and the United States Department of Agriculture, Rural Development divisions discussed federal housing loans and grants opportunities.

With the majority of my district being rural, I encourage the residents, city and county governments, and housing agencies across TX-28 to take full advantage of these opportunities. Home ownership is an integral part of the American Dream and I am committed to connecting the full reach of federal resources to local needs.
